If you have a creditor that's contacting you verbally or in writing, it's easy to send them a cease and desist letter and that would stop the communications. One of the things is that it's only a band-aid. You still owe the debt. They still can send the debt to a different debt collector, who then can contact you, but it would provide you with immediate relief, as they are supposed to stop contacting you. One other thing you can do is tell them to stop calling your cell phone and keep track of those calls. Contacting an attorney around this time wouldn't be such a bad idea because sometimes violations are often something you can collect damages for under the FDCPA or the FCCPA.
