Unlike federal loans, there are very few, if any, programs for private loans. For our clients, we might have had one or two over the course of the last few years where there was an insurance company involved and our client was disabled. Usually that relief is not available for private loans. We have, at times, gotten private loans cancelled when our client has filed bankruptcy and they attended a non-accredited school. For the most part, there's no way to cancel them, but there is a way usually to either fight a lawsuit if they file, or to negotiate a better settlement for them.
